And now we can see...

lasik

[cherepuga]
I had Lasik done 2 days ago. Immediately afterwards my vision became perfect. I used to have - 4 and - 3,75 plus astigmatism. Now I can feel dryness and from time to time some kind of a foreign body in my eyes. My doctor says it will pass. Will it? What about your experience? Anyone felt sometning like that? Thank you!

Yes, there were times when I experienced the kind of dryness and itchiness you did as I was healing. It is very important that you do NOT touch or rub your eyes for at least a few weeks now. Keep the drops with you, and put them in your eyes when you start to feel like that, the eyedrops really help! Congratulations on your perfect vision, but don't be concerned if it fluctuates a little bit for a while.

Putting in drops even when you DON'T think you need them helps, too. The trick is to keep your eyes CONSTANTLY moisturized. I was told to use preservative free drops, which I did find to work better. It does pass, just grin and bear it for a few more days. Congrats!

Your vision will NOT stay perfect forever. At about age 45, your eye lenses start getting bad, because they will not be as strong as they are now, and you will need reading glasses again. But your distance vision should remain good. This is called "presbyopia" and LASIK cannot prevent it, which is something your doctor should have told you before you got the surgery. But no surgery can stop nature forever. It is the same with facelifts and plastic enhancements. No matter how much you get, you will still look old eventually.

I'm almost a year out, and great results. I love it - I can't believe how much more I can enjoy life! It's great, totally worth it.

I know the feeling you are talking about very well. As everyone else has said, keep putting the eye drops in, even if you think you don't need them. I also find that preservative free drops are much better than those with preservatives.

Congratulations on the good result. :)
